An elegant red wine with great complexity: This authentic Zweigelt originates from Tagner, a steep hillside area of Hagenbrunn. The soil features deep sandy clay giving distinction to the grapes whose vines are 40 years old. Grapes are harvested late in different stages so that they con ripen for a long time.
They then rest for a period of 14 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C. The grape juice and grape skins are fermented in tanks under daily aeration and filled in high-quality French oak barrels after being gently pressed.
The colour shows a deep ruby red with dark marrow. The wine features a wide range of aromas spanning from cherry and plumb fruits to fine touches of spices and chocolate. Very harmonious wine with a great tannin structure and a long finish. A wine that con be stored for a long time.
13,5% ABV, ideal serving temperature: 18 °C (64.4 °F)
Best served with: pairs perfectly with barbecue and braised beef or game.
Authentic Merlot can only be vinified in the very best vintages. Our premiere was a 2003 vintage, which received outstanding media reviews.
We are pleased to present our third vintage of Merlot, a Merlot 2007. The Wiesthalen area, a steep southern-facing, cauldron-shaped location in Vienna-Stammersdorf, boasts ideal conditions since its warm, sandy soil is perfect for cultivating this grape variety.
The best selection of 2007 grapes was aged in new Allier barrels for about 18 months and shows aromas of ripe cherry and herbs. Smooth and dense on the palate, it is a blend of spicy and vanilla aromas against a background of velvety tannins. A great wine featuring density, elegance and length.
13,5% ABV, ideal serving temperature: 17-18 °C (62.5-64.5 °F)
Best served with: pairs ideally with sautéed beef and venison.
